AUD $1,600,000 Hidden Losses Exposed Within Days

Shortly after my appointment as Production Manager at a large yeast manufacturing company, I became concerned about significant discrepancies between raw material usage and the volume of finished product being dispatched. The product involved was packed in 10-gram sachets, and the variances strongly indicated large-scale internal theft.

To address these concerns, Informanon was engaged to introduce its anonymous crime reporting initiative to employees across the Production and Packing departments. The objective was to raise awareness and provide staff with a secure, independent whistleblowing channel to report theft, fraud, corruption, or non-compliance with company and legal requirements.

Following the rollout, Informanon received an anonymous whistleblower report from an employee. The information revealed the existence of an organised syndicate involving more than twenty employees across multiple levels of the organisation, including management, warehouse staff, drivers, and contracted security personnel. Detailed information was provided outlining both the individuals involved and the methods used to remove product from the facility. The activity was believed to have been ongoing for several years.

Informanon relayed this intelligence to management, after which the matter was escalated through the appropriate legal and law-enforcement channels. Subsequent action resulted in the dismissal of several employees and the registration of criminal cases. During this process, one senior security representative absconded and fled the country.

Further admissions confirmed that up to four pallets of product were being removed per shift over extended periods. Each pallet consisted of 96 cases, with an estimated value of approximately AUD $10,000 per pallet at the time. Based on internal calculations, the sustained theft resulted in estimated losses of approximately AUD $1.6 million over several years.

Additional intelligence provided through the reporting process exposed further irregular activities, including the illegal manufacture and distribution of counterfeit product. These matters were addressed in cooperation with the relevant authorities, leading to successful search and seizure operations aimed at dismantling the broader criminal activity.

As a direct result of implementing Informanon’s reporting system, a long-term and effective working relationship was established. The intelligence provided proved invaluable in uncovering serious criminal conduct that would not have been detected through internal controls alone.

I strongly recommend Informanon’s anonymous reporting and intelligence framework to any organisation seeking to reduce financial loss, strengthen governance, and gain visibility over internal risk.

AUD $200,000 Recovered Through Anonymous Intelligence

Informanon was implemented at Expressnet Logistics PTY LTD to strengthen internal security and provide employees with a confidential channel to report theft, misconduct, and suspicious activity. The system was introduced nationally across all branches, ensuring full workforce awareness and participation.

Shortly after implementation, Informanon began generating credible intelligence that directly supported loss‑prevention efforts. One major incident involved an armed robbery at our warehouse in Johannesburg, during which a substantial quantity of goods was stolen. A confidential report submitted through Informanon led investigators to two separate locations in Johannesburg, where a wide range of stolen products, including clothing, electronics, industrial equipment, and branded merchandise, were successfully recovered.

The total value of the recovered goods exceeded AUD 200 000, demonstrating the significant operational and financial impact of Informanon’s reporting platform. The intelligence provided through Informanon enabled rapid response, supported law‑enforcement operations, and contributed to the recovery of high‑value assets.

Informanon proved to be an effective, professional, reliable, and high‑impact solution for enhancing organisational security, encouraging employee accountability, and reducing internal and external theft. I strongly recommended Informanon for organisations seeking to improve risk management, strengthen internal controls, and protect company assets.

When Traditional Controls Failed, Anonymous Intelligence Succeeded

As a director of Shop-SA, the Southern African Association for Stationery, Home & Office Products, I am pleased to strongly endorse Informanon and the exceptional impact of its Hotline solution.

In April 2009, our management committee met with Ian Cloete of Informanon after learning of the outstanding success achieved through the Informanon Hotline at a large Yeast Manufacturer in South Africa. The results were compelling and immediately resonated with our committee, comprised of business owners and directors from across the industry.

Recognising the value of this solution, Shop-SA partnered with Informanon to make the Hotline available to our members nationwide. The initiative was launched through our monthly industry magazine and received an enthusiastic response.

Many Shop-SA members went on to implement the Informanon Hotline throughout their organisations countrywide, resulting in significant successes in detecting and preventing theft, fraud, corruption, robberies, and regulatory non-compliance. These outcomes not only protected businesses but also strengthened ethical culture and governance across member organisations.

Informanon has consistently demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and tangible results. Their Hotline has become a powerful tool for our members, and we are proud to have partnered with an organisation that delivers real value and measurable outcomes.
